
General directions & warnings for the safe & careful
use of candles
·Place a suitable holder in a safe, level
position, away from flammable materials, heat and draughts.
·Remove all packaging and labels. Secure
the candle in an upright position in a holder before lighting.
·Take care not to damage the wick, or drop
any foreign material, e.g. Match heads, in the wax pool.
·Place candles at least 10 cm (4 inches)
apart and ensure that there is ample room above the flame to burn
safely.
·To prevent the wick from smoking trim to
approximately 1 cm.
·Never allow the candle to come into contact
with the holder and ensure that any decorative candle rings are
removed before lighting the candle.
·Never leave a burning candle unattended.
·Never blow a candle out. Always extinguish
with a candle snuffer or the back of a metal spoon, taking care
not to damage the wick.
·Never touch or move a candle holder containing
a burning candle.
·Take care not to allow any molten wax to
come into contact with the skin and handle candle holders with care
they may be hot enough to burn you.
·Always keep candles and candle holders
away from children and animals.
·For safety and to achieve optimum burning
times never burn a candle for more than two hours continuously.
Extinguish and allow to cool fully before re-lighting.
·Ensure that the area that a candle is burning
in is ventilated.
·Ensure that furniture is fully guarded
against the heat and wax from a candle.

Tea lights
·Always burn tea lights in a suitable
holder.
Floating candles
·Only use floating candles in a suitable container filled
with water.
Novelty candles
·Novelty candles are designed to be decorative.
·Choose a large non flammable stand as irregular
shaped candles may drip excessively.
Gel wax, room fragrances & wax filled containers
·These items will liquefy during use. Ensure
that the container is undamaged, made of a suitable material and
is capable of containing hot molten product.
·Place on a heat resistant surface.
·The container may become hot during use,
do not touch nor move until the candle is extinguished and fully
cooled.
·Never allow the flame to come into contact
with the container.
Sets including decorative glass nuggets
·Always ensure that decorative glass
nuggets and any similar items are stored and used out of the reach
of children and animals as they may represent a choking hazard. |
